The Focusfinderpreis is an award honoring the best bachelor, master and PhD thesis in the area of digital image processing in the Hamburg-Schleswig-Holstein region in northern Germany. The award is allocated by the "Initiative Bildverarbeitung", a regional association of local companies and universities working in the field of machine vision. As a member of the association, Allied Vision sponsored an award with a 1,000 € prize.
Sven Painer, the winner, developed an image processing system modelling the surface of a patient's liver after an laparoscopic examination. This makes it possible to perform quantitative measurements of the organ.
